O'Connor family - possibly Roscommon??
After years of searching for my gg grandfather (Daniel O'Connor) and his wife (Sarah E. Somerville, from Monaghan)), I've found a cousin who says "It was always Roscommon" when asked where the family came from.Daniel and his wife had 2 children (Edward and Matilda) who were both baptized RC at St. Patrick's church in Belfast in 1851 and 1852.The family then re-located to Leeds, England around 1853. My great grandfather, James Daniel O'Connor, was born in Leeds in 1855.His children were named Edward,Alfred,Somerville,Robert, Claude, Harold (died as infant), and Joseph. My grandfather, Claude, was the Chief Steward on the SS Leviathan. Then the SS America. One of his souveniers is a menu with the autographs of the 1937 Co. Mayo football team which I still have. Two of his brothers were also at sea most of their lives.Does any of this "ring" the proverbial bell with anyone out there????
