The Rowans of Rawdon, Quebec, Canada were connected by marriage to my Corcorans of Ballina or Crossmolina, Crossmolina Parish, Co. Mayo, Ireland. The Irish tended to settle in areas of Quebec where they had family or where there were other Irish immigrants. The Rawdon Rowans were Roman Catholic.Rowan was also spelled Ruane.
The records that I have are some births and/or deaths, which likely won't help you, unfortunately.Have you checked the Drouin Collection for marriages?Your Rowans were not in Quebec long enough to appear on a census.I have a contact in Rawdon and have asked her if she has any information on the Nevens/Nevins/Nevans family.
Have you checked out the family trees on Rootsweb?I did a quick check, and found trees of Rowans in Wisconsin. I also found Rowans in Buckingham, Quebec, which is another possibility. While I have found Michaels in Rawdon, so far there are no Martins. The Buckingham Rowans have both Michaels and Martins - the contact is Patricia Nantt Close ([email protected]).Her Rowans ended up in Montana, but it's worth a try.
I will let you know when I hear from my contact. If you want the birth/death information that I have, please let me know.
