Thomas V. Carney Sr. of Lombard The funeral service for Thomas V. Carney Sr., 75, will begin with prayers at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, then proceed to Christ the King Church, Lombard, for a Mass at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at the funeral home. He died Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Downers Grove. Mr. Carney was a resident of Lombard since 1969 and was a proud native of Liter, Islandeady, Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army and was a proud U.S. citizen. Mr. Carney was a member of Local #150 Operating Engineers for over 40 years and loved his work. He enjoyed lapidary, autos, stained glass, as well as darts, bowling and skiing. Mr. Carney was a member of Christ The King Church in Lombard. Mr. Carney is survived by his wife, Theresa (nee Hyde); daughter, Kathleen "Kathy" (Angelo) Pierucci of Park Ridge; sons, Thomas "Tommy" (Kathy) of West Chicago and James "Seamus" of Lombard; grandchildren, Peter, Anthony "Tony," and Matthew "Matt" Pierucci and Haley Carney; stepgranddaughters, Kristi and Jamie Hall; brothers and sisters, Una Cleary of Ireland, Tony Carney of Ireland, Mary (Tom) McCormick of England and Jim (Gloria) Carney of Australia; and his two sisters-in-law, Mary and Peggy Carney. Mr. Carney was preceded in death by his daughter, Winifred "Una" Carney and brothers, Patrick, Frank, Martin and Joseph. For information, 630-629-0094.
