Kerley family of Castletown, Dundalk - please help a newbie!

I am a complete "newbie" to Irish genealogy. I have just found out from the 1851 census of Wandsworth, Surrey, England, that one of my ancestors was from Ireland. His name was Matthew KERLEY. In the 1851 census he gives his age as 73, and thus would have been born around 1778. Unfortunately it does not give exactly where in Ireland he was born. I did a search on the IGI and found a Matthew Kerley, christened in 1791 in Castletown Parish, Dundalk, Louth, son of Thomas Kerley and Caty Nugent. I am not sure if this is my Matthew, but thought that I could possibly look into his life and then rule him out if it seems that he didn't move to England.

I know that my Matthew must have been in England by about 1813, as his daughter Margaret was born in London abt 1813.

Does anyone have any info about the area of Castletown Parish, or any resources such as cemetary listings which might give any info about my Matthew Kerley. Also, if I was to order it, would a death certificate from 1852 (when Matthew died) give a place of birth?

I would be very grateful for any help, as I am getting quite confused by the resources available to search etc for Ireland.

Kind regards
Kirsty in New Zealand.
