Sir Garret Moore, Knt., 1st Viscount Moore,served in the Irish wars against the Earl of Tyrone 1599, was Seneschal of Cavan 1608, M.P. for the borough of Dungarvan 1613,and President of Munster 1615. He was elevated to the peerage of Ireland, as Baron Moore of Mellefont, Co. Louth, 20 July 1616, and created Viscount Moore of Drogheda, 7 Feb. 1621-2.
He married Mary, daughter of Sir Henry Colley, Knt. of Castle Carbery, Co. Kildare and by her( who married 2ndly, Charles, 1st Viscount Wilmot, of Athlone,and Died 3 June 1654 )had issue six sons and five daughters.
