William and Elizabeth Hargrave
William Hargrave was born ca. 1792 in County Cork, Ireland. He married Elizabeth Smith in 1818 or 1819 and they had at least nine children, eight of whom migrated with them to Australia. Elizabeth Smith was born ca. 1797 at Dumbride, County Meath, Ireland. Her parents Thomas Smith and Sarah Wilson were married on 12th July, 1773 in the Church of Ireland, Donaghmore, County Tyrone, Ireland. Elizabeth had at least one brother, John, who married Sarah Pigeon. John is mentioned because two of his daughters, Jane and Ann, migrated to Australia with William and Elizabeth, after the deaths of John and Sarah.The family were freeholders in Ardee in 1822 & 1824.
