JOHN SMYTH/SMITH & MATHILDA MCCABE SMYTH/SMITH.
John Smith & Mathilda McCabe-Smith/Smyth= from County Cavan IRELAND (Ulster). They emigrated to Ontario,Drummond in 1823,then They emigrated to the U.S., Iowa, with their daughter, Elizabeth Smith-Doyle in 1865, and her family.
(From a Census from 1851, Ontario, Drummond township, Lanark, Co, Canada,it says that Mrs. Mathilda McCabe-Smyth/Smith had been a widow when this census was taken. Other sources say that GreatGreatGreat Grandfather John Smith emigrated with his wife and daughter and the rest of thier family into Iowa.)
Elizabeth appears to have had a sister Dorenda=(born 1825), and Rebecca=(1824),and brother William=(born 1821 in Ireland) =(married to Mary Smith(born 1824 in Ireland)=CHILDREN, John, Jr Smith and Mathilda Smith=(both born in Canada listed born same year; 1848). It may be that John Smith, on this same Census of 1851, is another son with his family: John Smyth/Smith (born 1815 Ireland) married to;= Elizabeth Smyth/Smith (born in Canada=1845=Children=(Melissa Smith (born 1844 Canada) and Anne Smith (born 1849). I am pretty sure this is correct, but needs verifying.-Maureen Moore, Feb. 2005.

Elizabeth Smith-Doyle(born 1820 =died Feb. 4, 1896). Elizabeth's nickname was Bessie. She couldn't read or write. She resided in Ireland, Canada, Ohio & Iowa.
Elizabeth Smith-Doyle married Robert Edmund Doyle
August 8, 1839 in Perth, St John the Baptist Ontario.
Left ONTARIO,CANADA in 1865. They emigrated to Butler County Iowa. They became United States Citizens in 1870.

Married William Sanders. Buried in Nettleton Cemetery, Greene Iowa.

3.)Anna Doyle (born 1844 Ottawa, Ontario, Canada=died June 30, 1908, Greene, Iowa. Married Lawrence J. Hagarty.(GreatGreatGrandmother)
4.)Francis Elizabeth Doyle (born Aug 3, 1846, Ontario, Canada=Died Nov. 1926
Married John McMahon cica 1869.
5.)Mary Emily Doyle (born 1849, Canada=died April 10, 1897, Greene, Iowa) married Patrick O'Brian (born 1842=died Mar 28, 1876, Greene, Iowa). Both burried in Nettleton Cemetery, Greene, Butler County, Iowa.
6.)Teresa Doyle (born April 6, 1850, Perth, Ontario, Canada=died December 31, 1937, Greene, Iowa).
