Gunshannon/Gunshanan/Campbell/Whitney/Tyrell
I am seeking information on Gunshannon, also spelled Gunshanon,(and Gunshanan, although these may differ from the ones I am looking for). The Gunshannon's are definitely from Longford Co. as it is stated on their naturalization and cememtery records (as well as on the gravestones I have found)in Vermont.I believe the Gunshannon's I am looking for are from Drumlish although Ballinaee and a Kil...a something or other are also mentioned in IGI records. So far I have a ship's record (c.1846) of a Kitty Gunshannon coming over through Liverpool (it ends abruptly). I can't find anything out once she arrives New York. Regrding my known ancestors, James Gun. marries Catherine Tyrell, Michael Gun. marries Elizabeth Campbell, and Edward marries Ann Gavin (Gavier). These marriages take place before they come to America because several children are born in Ireland (per some census info). Also it is apparent that some Whitney's came with the Gunshannon's from Longford. This exodus appears to be around 1850's. There is also a Thomas Gunshannon (I have little info on). I think a Whitney male married a Gunshannon female (Patrick and Mary??).I have also found Whitney gravestone indicating they were from Longford.Has anyone out there heard of these surnames I mention? If so please contact me direct at [email protected] cemetery I spoke of in Vermont has a lot of stones saying that the deceased were from Longford County.Unfortuntely no towns. If I can be of service to anyone recognizing these surnames (there are more)just let me know.I would be more then happy to share. Thanks, Joan Kahakalau
