Looking for family of John Walsh and Letitia Hewitt- @1800

Hello-

I'm looking for information on a family from the villiage of Canaan Airdes, near the town of Moat, County of Longford, Ireland.

John Walsh was born @ 1782. His father "Walsh" was born @ 1756 in Canaan Airdes. His mother "Connor" was born @ 1760, also in Canaan Airdes. He died sometime prior to 1847.

He married Letitia Hewitt @ 1800, supposedly in Moate. She was born in 1783, in Moate, Longford, Ireland. She emigrated to Bear Brook, Ontario, Canada, in 1847, and died there in 1863. A number of the children also emigrated- at least one remained behind.

John Walsh and Letitia Hewitt had ten known children-

1) William b. 1795 Moate, Longford, Ireland. He married Hannah Gardiner, b. @ 1799, from Moate.
2) John b. @1797 Moate, Longford, Ireland. He married Isabella Hicks, b. @ 1797, from Moate.
3) Robert b. @ 1803 Moate, Longford, Ireland. He married Mary Tanner, b. @ 1803, from Moate.
4) Letitia b. @ 1805 Moate, Longford, Ireland. She married James Murphy, b. @ 1805, from Moate.
5) Eliza b. @ 1807 Moate, Longford, Ireland. She married John Moffatt, b. @ 1807, from Moate.
6) George b. 1809 Moate, Longford, Ireland. He married Elizabeth Quirn, from Canada.
7) Mary Ann b. @ 1809 Moate, Longford, Ireland. She married James Leitch, b. @ 1809, from Moate.
8) Richard b. 1813 Moate, Longford, Ireland. He married Eleanor Moffatt, b. 1818, from Ireland.
9) Alice b. 1815 Moate, Longford, Ireland. She died 1815 Moate, Longford, Ireland.
10) Joseph b. @ 1818 Moate, Longford, Ireland. Put off ship w/ ship's fever @Sorel, Quebec, Canada, in 1847 and never heard from again.

At least Robert, George and Richard emigrated to Canada, and family notes indicate that Mary Ann and James Leitch stayed and died in Ireland. They had two children I know of, Robert and Newcombe, but no dates attached.

If anyone has any information on this family, I would be glad to hear of it.

Thank you,

David Irving (perfessordave@hotmail.com)
