James Mack, son of Sarah Wall and Michael McNamara/Mack North Adams Transcript, July 2, 1905 James Mack James Mack of 18 Elm St was found dead in his bed at his homeby his daughter, Sadie. He spoke of his life early in the morning but when he didn't get up to breakfast in answer to his daughter's call she went to see what was the matter and found him dead. Dr CJ Curran was called and he was pronounced the death as due to heart failure. The man had been dead several hours. He has worked on the city teams a number of years and was at work and seemed as well as usual Saturday. Mr Mack was born in Ireland about 58 years ago and came to this city and country about forty years ago and has lived here ever since. He was married to Miss Ellen Wall of this city a few years after his arrival here and she with four children survive him. The children are Mrs George Bowers of Lynn, Michael of Farmingham NH, Edward of Portsmith NH, and Sadie at home. He also leaves three brothers and two sisters, Morris and Thomas of this city, John of Kansas City MO, Mrs HA Rooney and Miss Mary Mack of this city. He was a member of St Francis Church. Mr Mack was one of the oldest and highly respected Irish Citizens of this city. The funeral will be held from St Francis church tomorrow and burial will be in Hillside Cemetary Catherine T Mack daughter of Michael and Sarah Wall Mack died November 12, 1886, buried in Hillside Cemetary, never married Margaret Mack daughter of Michael and Sarah Wall Mack died died December 5, 1890, buried in Hillside Cemetary, never married Mary Mack daughter of Michael and Sarah Mack died November 6, 1917, buried in Hillside, never married. North Adams Transcript-November 6, 1917 Miss Mary Mack, for many years a resident of this city, died at her home 97 Eagle St., after a long illness. Miss Mack was born in Ireland, the daughter of Micheal and Sarah Wall Mack. She came to this city early in her youth, and entered the life of the community with her characteristic pleasant disposition. For many years she was employed as a gingham weaver in the local mills but lately, and until three years ago worked at the Kieth Shoe Factory. For three years she has been in poor health and had failed rapidly toward the end. Miss Mack is survived by one sister, Mrs Sarah Mack Rooney of this city and three brothers, Morris and Thomas of this city and John Of Kansas City, Mo. Thomas F Mack, born December 14, 1864, son of Sarah Wall and Michael Mack died December 5, 1923,buried in Hillside Cemetary North Adams Transcript-December 5, 1923. Thomas Mack is Fatally Stricken at Wall Home Thomas Mack of 65 River St. a residents of this city for many years, died suddenly this morning at the home of the late Patrick Wall at 77 Front St, whose funeral service he was to act as pall bearer. His death came as a shock to his many friends and acquaintances who had been associated with him in his daily life, and who esteemed him as a man of high character and integrity. While his health had not been perfect for some time, he appeared to be as well as usual until stricken. He died in a few minuets after the fatal seizure. Born in Ireland, Mr. Mack came to this country when a small child, and had since made his home in this city. He was in the employ of the Boston and Maine Railroad for over 45 years, and for a number of years previous to his retirement was foreman of transfer with that company. He was a member of the A.O.H. and of the Holy Name Society of St. Francis Church. The deceased is survived by one brother, Morris Mack of 15 Freeman Avenue, this city and several nieces and nephews, two of whom, George and Janet Rooney made thier home with him on River Street. Sarah Mack Rooney, daughter of Michael and Sarah Wall Mack born October 12, 1869 Ireland married Henry A Rooney of Quebec Canada February 4, 1894, had two children Janet and George Rooney, Sarah is my GGrandmother, according to family history Henry was discovered to be a bigamist and was run out of town in 1901 after George was born. Never been able to pin him down after 1901. Sarah never divorced, lived with her sister Mary and brother Thomas. North Adams Transcript-October 1918. Mrs. Sarah Mack Rooney, one of the well known residents of this city, died at her home, 97 Eagle Street, last night following a three month illness. Mrs. Rooney was born in Ireland fifty years ago. While still a little girl she came to this city and had spent the greater part of her life here. She was a member of the St. Francis church and the League of the Sacred Heart of that church. She was a woman of amiable disposition and was beloved by all who knew her. Mrs. Rooney is survived by two children, Miss Janet and George Rooney, and brothers, Maurice and Thomas Mack, all of this city. I don't know who this James Mack belongs to, father Michael McNamara mother Ann Fahey accoring to Vital Records North Adams Transcript-October 28, 1900 James Mack, a well known resident of this city, died yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock at his home, 10 High Street, aged 59 years. He had been in failing health for two or three years and his death was the result of a general breaking down. Mr. Mack was born in Ireland, but came to this country when young, and after living in Pennsylvania for some years he came to this city in the tunnel days with B.N. Farren, the contractor who did the arching on the west portal, and worked for a long time under him as foreman. For some years past he had done any regular business. He continued to live in this city until his death, and was one of it's well known and respected residents. He was a good Neighbor and friend, and will be kindly remembered by those who knew him. He was one of the old tunnel force, most of whom are gone, and his name was therefore identified with the greatest work ever done in this part of the country, and one of the greatest of the kind in the world. Mr. Mack leaves a widow, two sons John H, and James Mack and four daughters Mrs Margaret Lewis, and Mary, Catherine, and Libbie Mack all of this city.
