It seems that McQueeny was more commonly spelled McWeeny and the Shields was usually Shiels (but be prepared for anything !). You could start to narrow down your search by looking at the 1901 census which is online at Leitrim-Roscommon.com this will tell you in which parishes the McWeenys were most common. Apparently there weren't any Shiels left in Leitrim by that time, but there were plently in adjoining Roscommon so that MIGHT mean that you will find McWeenys close to that county. Eventually you want to get to the 1965 Griffiths Valuation though a LDS (Mormon) Family History Library so that you can scan through those records to find McWeeny or perhaps his father or siblings and then Shiels father or male siblings. You could also just pay the Family History Center in Ballinamore (you can do this via email) to do a search.
