Mary Fleming from County Queen

I'm looking for info on Mary Fleming, who passed away in Iowa City, Iowa January 22, 1914. Her obit (below) says she was born in 1831 Queen County, Ireland, but the name of the village listed I *think* is Anthlone (which is in Westmeath). Mary couldn't read or write, so I don't know if she told her children where she was from and this was their interpretation. Is there a similar sounding named town or village in Laois? Were there different borders at the time? Does anyone know of any Flemings who immigrated to Valatie, NY in the mid 19th century? Thanks for your help!

Johnson County has lost another beloved pioneer in the death of Mrs. Jno Kennedy, who as readers of the Press will recall, passed away at her home 215 North Capitol Street Thursday, January 22, shortly after mid-day.

She was in poor health for several months, but the end came unexpectedly, nevertheless. She was one of the most respected residents of the city and county and will long be remembered.

Her maiden name was Mary Fleming. She was born March 16, 1831 at (Athlone sp?), Queen County Ireland and crossed the ocean in 1849. Having located in the United states, she married in Valatie, NY in 1862 to John Kennedy. They removed to Iowa in 1863, settling at Oxford, where they made their home until 1893. Two decades ago they came to this city, and within the shadow of the Old Capitol they spent their declining days, residing here until both were called beyond.

To the worthy couple nine children were born. These were Mrs. Bridget Clear, Holbrook, Ia; Mrs. Elizabeth Scanlon, Oxford; Mrs. Catherine Cooney, Parnell; John and James, Oxford; Mrs. Mary Scanlon, Chicago; the Misses Margaret and Ellen at the family residence in Iowa City; and Michael who preceded his parents to the other shore.
