My great great grandfather, Alexander Stoker Gardiner was apparently born in Borris in Ossery, and Elizabeth, his mother, wrote in 1847 that he was baptised at home because of "delicacy" - I am assuming that this means that he might not have been expected to survive at birth. He was born around the year 1809. By the time she wrote this note (for Alexander's ordination as a priest in England) she was living in Fermoy, County Cork.
Any information about either Elizabeth, and or Alexander's birth and early life would be very much appreciated.
