I am looking for more information regarding Patrick Tierney, b. abt. 1795 in Ireland. I found one Patrick Tierney on FamilySearch.org who matches my age criteria. FamilySearch.org shows a Patrick Tierney, born abt 1795, in Boley, Laois, Ireland. I also found marriage information that shows him married to Elizabeth Corcoran, born abt 1799 in Boley. They were married about 1820 in Boley.
Patrick emigrated to America with 2 sons, Thomas, b. abt 1825, and Patrick, b. abt. 1828, via Liverpool to New York on the ship, "St. Patrick." They arrived in New York on 31 March 1845. I have not been able to determine when Elizabeth sailed over, but she is found with Patrick in New York City in the 1870 U.S. Federal Census. I also found other Tierneys, who are very likely related to them: offspring--James, b. abt. 1826, Daniel, b. abt. 1822, Catharine, b. abt. 1826, and Nora, b. abt. 1830; sibling (?)--Joanna Tierney, born abt. 1793. They are found in the 1860 U.S. Census in New York City. I've also located a possible brother of the elder Patrick: John Tierney, born abt. 1797 in Ireland.
The records also indicate that the junior Patrick was married before sailing over. His wife's name is Julia, but I have been unsuccessful in locating her maiden name. Thomas married a woman named Bridget, who also came over from Ireland.
I do know that the Tierneys were Catholic, so I would like to find out if any Catholic churches from the early/mid 1800s still exist in Boley today. I would like to contact them to see if they have any records of this family. If anyone can suggest churches to write to, I would appreciate it.
