Goodness, I thought I knew what comprehensive meant until I read your message ! Thankyou seems a bit inadequate, but thats all I've got. I'm on a process of elimination, and with so few Lings listed in Griffiths valuation I just might find the Ling I'm after. I think I might have to chase up Christening records for James Ling's children in the UK to try and establish whereabouts in Ireland he was from, (I'm hoping that the James Ling in Griffiths might be his father) With the info you have given me and an amenable Father Dunphy, I should be able to establish whether James Ling snr had a son also called James b1837. So, for services above and beyond the usual, thanks again Doug.
