Searching for any family and connections of the WILSONS from Crettyard and the NEALES from Tullow.

Elizabeth (maiden name so far unknown) was born about 1868 in Ireland and married a WILSON before about 1891.

One of their daughters married J. NEALE and lived at Rath House, Tullow in 1922.

A son, Thomas Wilson, born about 1891, emigrated to New York in 1912.

The widowed mother Elizabeth (maiden name unknown) WILSON emigrated to New York in 1922 with 4 of her other children.

1922 New York passenger lists:

Ship: S. S. Cedric
Arrival Date: 25 December 1922
Passengers sailing from: Liverpool, December 15th, 1922

Elizabeth Wilson - 54 - widow - Occupation: Domestic
Last permanent residence: Prettyyard, Ireland
Nearest relative: Daughter, Mrs. J. Neale, Rath House, Tullow, Ireland

James Wilson - 22 - Farmer
Nearest relative: Sister, Mrs. J. Neale, Rath House, Tullow, Ireland

Isabella Wilson - 21 - Domestic
Nearest relative: Sister, Mrs. J. Neale, Rath House, Tullow, Ireland

Frederick Wilson - 13 - scholar
Nearest relative: Sister, Mrs. J. Neale, Rath House, Tullow, Ireland

Emily Wilson - 16 - scholar
Nearest relative: Sister, Mrs. J. Neale, Rath House, Tullow, Ireland

Final destination for the Wilson family: New York City, New York

The Wilsons' last permanent residence of "Prettyyard" was actually CRETTYARD. An immigration clerk must have misunderstood or incorrectly transcribed what they told him, an error that occurred often with peoples' names as well as place names.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The WILSON family is found in the 1930 U.S. census, Bronx County, New York:

1930 census, Bronx County, New York. Address 983 Summit Avenue:

Elizabeth Wilson, 61, widowed - Naturalization: "PA" - no occupation
Thomas Wilson, 39 - single - Naturalized citizen - Occupation: laborer - Steam railroad
Emily Wilson, 23 - single - Naturalization: "PA" - Occupation: clerk - insurance
Fred Wilson, 21 - single - Naturalized citizen - Occupation: bank clerk - banking
James Wilson, 37 - single - Naturalized citizen - Occupation: motorman - elevated road

According to the census data, all the Wilsons were born in the "Irish Free State," and all had emigrated to the U.S. in 1921 (actually 1922) except Thomas, who emigrated in 1912.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

James Wilson married Florence MARTIN in the late 1930s or early 1940s, and their son James Jr. (Jimmy) served in the U.S. military in the Vietnam War. In 1967 they were still living at 983 Summit Avenue, Bronx, New York. Their whereabouts and fate after that time are unknown.

Any assistance with records on this family in Ireland and descendants in the United States would be greatly appreciated. Look-ups in local or county records c. 1890-1920 would be extremely helpful, especially finding descendants today of "Mrs. J. Neale" of Tullow and the Wilsons of Crettyard in general.
