Bergin-Parkinson-Perkinson Laois
Posted by: Janice Bergin Date: November 24, 2001 at 03:04:14
of 551 name is Janice Bergin and I'm researching my heritage and the history and ways of my Irish roots. First, My grandmother Ellen Parkinson came from Laois (was at one time called Queens county) Her father's name was Martin and they lived on a farm called Cormouge. Martin came over to the US around the 1860's because of course of the potato famine. He came at first to Waterbury Conneticut and was involved in watchmakeing. She was also from Raheen parish. When they came to Waterbury Conneticut there name was changed to Perkinson or Parkinson. My grandmom knew a John Bergin who also lived relativly close to her. She married him when they came to the US after 1910 in the US. My grandpop lived in Fairfield. My grandpops full name was John Gregory Bergin. My grandpops mother's name was Kathleen MacEvoy and she marrie Joseph Bergin. They had 6 children names Daniel, Joseph, Michael, William, John and James. I am searching for my heritage and curious about Ireland in which I've never had the opportunity to visit. If any of this sound familiar to anyone please reply to my mail. I would love to find out more. Thanks and LOL janice.
