Hello Melissa,
I went to the 'Society of Friends'burial grounds yesterday and while there are quite a lot of headstones there,I found no headstone with the name Paine.
Some are unreadable, but they are few.
There is a book about the 'Quakers of Mountmellick' that I discussed with another person seeeking information about the Quakers, and I will pass on the e-mail address, when I find it !
The Quakers have recently opened new premises in Dublin where they keep all their records and the addres is;
Quakers Headquarters
Stocking Lane
Dublin 16.
They may be able to help.
www. mountmellick development association.net/history also have records of the Quakers and could be contacted.
There are plenty of 'Paynes' (note spelling) in Mountmellick
to date, but they are young families.
Kope this is of some use.
Best wishes
Jack
Portlaoise
Ireland.
