Hi Maureen: I research the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,800,000 surviving rcds for abt 70% of Irish counties. Rcds are increasingly sparse B4 1840, rare B4 1800. Cos. Donegal and Derry were recently added to the database. Note 1 - Without a KNOWN county, the chance of an ancestor's rcds NOT being in this database is AT LEAST 30%. Note 2 - Only 1/2 of Co. Cork's rcds are in this database. Note 3 - The RC church kept control over most parish rcds from Tipperary (north). These are ONLY available thru the Tipperary Family History Research center at a substantial fee (regardless of outcome). For Catherine McEvoy M 1815 +/- 4 yrs, Co. Kilkenny, I found 1 rcd in 1815, St. Canice's RC parish. For James Delaney M ditto, I found ditto. These are highly likely to be the rcds for your (possible) ancestors. A view of the detailed rcds MAY show they married each other. If so, the rcds should show their parents' names as well as other details. This would push your lineage back one more generation and also give you the means to validate earlier B/M rcds. Potential offspring B in St. Canice's with the father forenamed James are numerous. There appears to be several families headed by a James Delaney in St. Canice's parish in the period 1815-1824. For Cat(herine) McEvoy B 1794 +/- 4 yrs, St. Canice's, with the father's forename unknown, I found 0 rcds. For James Delaney B 1792 ditto, I found 0 rcds. The closest was in 1773. Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg. Hope this helps. Good luck.
