My 3rd GGrandfather was THOMAS KELLY. He was born in Co. Kilkenny, Ireland. All U.S. records say he was born in Dec. 1812, however the Rothe House has no record.
I do have a Baptism Record on a Thomas Kelly. (From St. Canice Church)
Thomas Kelly, Born Sept. 6th, 1816.
His parents were JOHN KELLY and MARGARET RYAN.
Thomas sponsors were PETER LALOR and MARY O' H????
There was one other sibling on record at St. Canice.
MARY KELLY Born August 18th, 1818.
Parents JOHN KELLY and MARGARET RYAN.
Sponsors: JAMES WAHER (?) and MARY Neil.
My understanding is that sponsors were normally family members... or very close friends..
I know that my Kelly's lived on the cross streets of The Butts and Blackmill.
Thomas Kelly settled in Hampshire Co. W. Virginia, U.S.A.
I have the Kelly/ Kelley line in the U.S.
Also note that in an 1855 Census, I find a
JOHN RILEY age 24 from Ireland
JOHN KEALLY age 22 from Ireland
PATRCIK TIMOTHY age 27 from Ireland
PATRICK HAPPON or HASSON age 25 from Ireland
JOHN LOLLER age 23 from Ireland
All were living with Thomas Kelly.
ANY info. on These, Kellys, Lalors, Ryans, Waher, or Neil... would be Greatly Appreciated.
