I searched the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,000,000 surviving rcds for abt 65% of Irish counties. Rcds are increasingly sparse B 4 1840, rare B4 1800. 1. For John Farrell M 1845 +/- 1 yr in Co. Kilkenny, I found 2 M rcds: 1845 & 1846. Both were in the RC parish of Callan. 2. For Catherine Butler M ditto, I found 1 M rcd in 1846 RC parish of Callan in Co. Kilkenny. 3. For Catherine Farrell B 1848 +/- 2 yrs in Kilkenny, I found 3 B rcds: 2-1846 & 1849. None were in Callan parish, and neither had a father named John. Catherine may have been baptized in a different county. This era saw massive population movements due to the Famine. Searching the entire database for this name with a father named John for the period 1848 +/- 2 yrs, there are 15 B rcds. 4. For Thomas Butler B 1855 +/- 4 yrs in Co. Kilkenny with a father named John, I found 2 B rcds: 1854 & 1856. The 1854 rcd was in the parish of Callan. Items 1, 2, & 4 are likely to be rcds for your ancestor. A view of these rcds SHOULD show the parents' names. Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg. Hope this helps. Good luck. Notify Administrator about this message?
