Hi Ralph,
Thank you for responding to my post so quickly.
On Mary's convict records it says that she had one brother Michael and one sister Mary Ann at native place. I thought this was strange to have a sister with exactly the same name as herself.
My Mary uses Mary Ann Smith as her full maiden name in Australia. I went looking this morning on the Irish Family History Foundation and came up with a few possibles. So it is a beginning.
