Thank you so much for showing interest. As you know this process is long and frustrating. I have on record that he was born in 1864 now where he was born is debateable. In the "Swanton family history worldwide" a distant cousin has him from born in Leixlib's, Co. Kildare and another source has him in Skibbereen, Co. Cork. If you see the book, which is in the Skibbereen library, there are other inconsistancies. I was lucky to have the resource of Ginni Swanton who is a wealth of Swanton knowledge and she has his mother as Anne Noble. The other information in which she was able to obtain was his birth date of Nov. 5, 1852. The record of his parents marriage is:
June 15, 1850
Robert William Swanton, age 27, bachelor, born in 1823, Ratravane, Skull, sone of Robert Swanton, farmer.
He married Anne Noble, spinster, age 22, born in 1828, Ballydehab, Skull, daughter of Edward Noble, Coast Guard Officer. They were married in the Untied Church of England and Ireland. In Skull, Co. Cork.
So, was he born in Skull and left for American via Leixlips? I am looking for his birth certificate. Any ideas on what or where I should go for this?
Thank you again for your interest. I hope I didn't bore you or waste your time with such a lengthy reply.
Good day to you.
