Robert Hurst & Ann [--?--] were both Irish born. Several of their ten children were baptized in Carbury Parish Church, Carbury, Co. Kildare. They had eight sons and two daughters: John?, Henry, Mary, Samuel, Sarah, Thomas, George, Robert, Michael & Nicholas. This family emigrated circa 1837-1839 first to the Syracuse/Cicero NY area, and many eventually to the Essex County area of Ontario. Robt. a gameskeeper on a large estate in Ireland purchased 300 acres in Essex which became known as the Hurst Settlement.
