The surname KANE is found in the US as O'KEANE,O'KANE...In Ireland it is found as KANE...

Michael Kane and Bridget Dungan were my G-G-G-grandparents......the family was Catholic...Michael was a tailor .... they were found in Mylerstown Co Kildare in 1848 clear to Oct of 1882 for sure Michael was still living then..there were 9 children in the family...I know 6 emigrated to the US by 1884...2 of their daughters BRIDGET and KATHERINE were nuns in the Society of the Sacred Heart Convent in St Joseph Missouri,
their son PATRICK br abt 1840 was a tailor also..he married a Maria/Mary STAKEM/UM...have info on their life..
another daughter ELIZABETH br 1859 married a MICHAEL JOHN O'CONNOR [tailor] from CO Cork in Oct of 1882 in Allen Co Kidare...they had 1 daugher Mary / Mayme br in Oct of 1883 the family emigrated in summer of 1884 to the US..found as a witness on their marriage registration was a PETER KANE...
There was also another daughter of Michael and Bridget that emigrated to the US but her name is unknown at this time only info on her is that she was living in St Charles Missouri in 1871 for sure...
There was a MICHAEL KEANE who was in Rochester Pa in 1877 who was Godfather to one of Patrick's daughters Margaret O'Keane..no more is known on him....

I have information on the 2 daughters Bridget and Katherine, daughter Elizabeth O'Connor nee O'Keane family, info on Patrick O"Keanes family.... none on unknown sister in St Charles Missouri nor this Michael Keane or this Peter Kane in Ireland...I know that the surnames MURPHY and WALSH are associated with this line of KANE/KEANE ect....there was a niece of Sister Bridget Kane living in Sheffield England in 1939 a MRS MARGARET WELSH but who her parents were I do not know yet...
There was also another niece of Sr Bridget living in Kansas City Missouri at the same time and attended the funeral of Sr Bridget in 1939 she was named as MRS JOHN MURPHY of Kansas City Missouri...
