I am trying to find the ship on which my maternal grandmother immigrated from Ireland.
Her name was Helena Sullivan, though she might have gone by Helen or Nellie. She was born in Sneem, Co. Kerry in 1907, her parents were Timothy Sullivan and Julia Dwyer. From here, things get pretty fuzzy: We think she left Ireland at age 16, probably from Cork, and probably arrived in New York City accompanied by a relative who was already living in America and had returned home for a visit. This relative was either Helena's uncle, Michael, or an older brother, Patrick. She may also have immigrated with a cousin, Ellen Egan.
There's a lot of uncertainty, yes, but unfortunately Helena died in April 1949 (as Helen Curtis in a hospital in Danbury, Connecticut), and my mother was too young to learn anything definite. Any help greatly appreciated.
