Hi Colleen:

Thanks for having such complete and precise info. You may have already found my major resource.

I research the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,000,000 surviving rcds for abt 65% of Irish counties. Rcds are increasingly sparse B4 1840, rare B4 1800.

Note 1 - Without a KNOWN county, the chance of an ancestor's rcds NOT being in this database is AT LEAST 35%.

Note 2 - Only 1/2 of Co. Cork's rcds are in this database.

Note 3 - The RC church kept control over most parish rcds from Tipperary (north). These are ONLY available thru the Tipperary Family History Research center at a substantial fee (regardless of outcome).

For Thomas Thompson M 1864 (exact) in Fermanagh, I found 1 rcd in Enniskillen RD.

For Fanny Levingston M ditto, ditto.

These rcds are almost certainly for your ancestors. A view of the detailed rcds SHOULD show their parents' names and other info.

For potential offspring of Thomas Thompson in Co. Tyrone from a prior marriage, I found 2 names, Eliza and Mary, B in 1839 and 1838 respectively, Drumragh parish CI. Other CI parishes began keeping B rcds as follows: Drumclamph 1877, Langfield Lower 1875, and Sixmilecross 1836.

Note - If a man's 1st wife died and he remarried, it was customary to name the 1st born female after the 1st wife.

Children of 2nd Marriage - (You already had this)
Eliza - Tempo RD, Tyrone - 1864
Fanny - Fintona RD, Fermanagh - 1866
Sarah - Fintona RD, Fermanagh - 1868
John - Tempo RD, Tyrone - 1875

For Thomas Thompson's prior marriage in either Tyrone or Fermanagh, I found 9 potential rcds.

For Fanny Levingston B 1843 +/- 4 yrs in Fermanagh with a father forenamed Alexander, I found 0 rcds. Of the 5 CI parishes, only Drumclamph was keeping B rcds as of 1843.

Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
