Hi Patsy: I research the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,000,000 surviving rcds for abt 65% of Irish counties. Rcds are increasingly sparse B4 1840, rare B4 1800. Note 1 - Without a KNOWN county, the chance of an ancestor's rcds NOT being in this database is AT LEAST 35%. Note 2 - Only 1/2 of Co. Cork's rcds are in this database. Note 3 - The RC church kept control over most parish rcds from Tipperary (north). These are ONLY available thru the Tipperary Family History Research center at a substantial fee (regardless of outcome). For Andrew McMullen B 1837 +/- 2 yrs, Co. Down, with the father's forename unknown, I found 1 rcd in 1838. Father's forename was Pat(rick). For John McMullen B 1834 ditto, I found 6 rcds: 1831, 4-1832, and 1833. Will leave it to your to find the father's forenames. For William McMullen B 1829 +/- 1 yr ditto, I found 5 rcds: 2-1828, and 3-1830. Ditto. For Jos(eph) McMullen B 1833 +/- 1 yr ditto, I found 0 rcds. For Sarah McMullen B 1828 ditto, ditto. For Robert McMullen B 1825/1838 ditto, ditto. For Alexander McMullen B 1824 ditto, ditto. Most of the above results are negative. The later rcds have some possibility of being for your ancestors. For ???? McMullen M 1823 (exact), Co. Down, I found 2 rcds: James and Patrick. A view of the M rcds SHOULD reveal whether the bride's forename was Marg(aret). If so, this has some chance of being for your ancestor, but you will have to find a way to validate it. Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg. Hope this helps. Good luck.
