McGonagle/McGonigle and Hamilton
Posted by: Janice Blackhurst (ID *****8760) Date: June 18, 2011 at 19:13:20

I discovered recently that my gg grandmother was Anne (or Annie) McGonagle. (born about 1815). She was married to Patrick Hamilton probably about 1833. They were Catholic and I believe (due to some other records I've found) that they may have lived near Lifford or Anne's family may have been from there. In their later marriage I think they lived in the Strabane area Co Tyrone which is just a mile away.

I have been to Belfast recently and researched Catholic Church records for Clonleigh Parish and also Camus at the PRONI Archives. There are a lot of gaps in the years for the Catholic records, but I still have not located one birth record for any of their children.

Does anyone have McGonagle connections and know anything about Annie McGonagle who married Patrick Hamilton. Patrick was a contractor and sometimes laborer by occupation. A couple of their sons moved to Glasgow Scotland, some of their other sons emmigrated to the US or Canada.
