JOHN REGAN (Coastguard), CASTLETOWNBERE, CORK, IRELAND

JOHN REGAN (b 10 May 1810 in Castletownbere, Cork, Ire; d 10 June 1884); married MARY ANN OLDEN(b. 1827 in Castletownbere, d 29 Dec 1874) in Castletownbere,Cork Ire. They are buried in the Foildarrig Cemetery.

John was in the Royal Navy and was stationed at many coastguard stations.

While stationed at Nanny Water Station in Laytown, Co Meath Ire, DENNIS J REGAN was born on 7 Feb 1857. Dennis emigrated to Lowell Massachusetts USA in 1872.

On 25 March 1859, MICHAEL P REGAN was born. He emigrated to Lowell Mass in 1874.

While John was stationed in Portrane, in 1861, MARY CLARE REGAN was born. She stayed in Ireland and taught school at the Girls School on Bere Island. After her father died, with her sister then married and all her brothers in Lowell, Mass, she emigrated to Lowell in 1886.

While John was stationed in Ballybunnion, Co Kerry, Ireland, on 29 February, 1964, JOHN J. REGAN was born. He emigrated to Lowell Mass when he was 13 1/2 years old.

Also at Ballybunnion, MARGARET JULIA REGAN was born 1 Aug 1865. Margaret became a teacher and taught in Trafask, near Castletownbere where she married THOMAS NESDALE in 1886. Later in life she ran a bed and breakfast adjacent to Blarney Castle.

DANIEL P REGAN was born 9 March 1870 in Castletownbere, Cork, Ireland. He emigrated to Lowell in 1885.
