Family lore is that Patrick O'Hagan was the immigrant of our family line. He was a ships captain having permission from the British government to plunder ships of opportunity. Eventually he settled in the Charleston, South Carolina area of the U.S.A. we believe sometime in the 1770s. Will someone suggest how I can search for evidence of Patrick in Clare prior to 1780?
