Hi Mike,

sorry I can't help with the photo's but I'm interested in what you might know about the Leyden's from this area.

My 3X Gt-grandfather was Daniel Charles Leyden who was born abt 1821, he came to Liverpool where he worked as an accountant/bookkeeper. On his marriage certificate it gives his father as Charles Leyden, farmer.

I have connected Daniel, via a court case to either an older brother or cousin called Francis (k/a Frank) Leyden Customs Officer in Liverpool who also married well, his wife was Alicia Fitzgerald from Kilkee Co Clare, they are listed in the Plantaganet Roll's (online)her brother was Charles Fitzgerald RN Governor of Gambia & Western Australia (photo & info online).

Back to the Leyden's, lol....
In the Liverpool Mercury newspaper there is a marriage for a Margaret Mary Leyden in Liverpool in the 1860's(there are only my Leyden's living in Liverpool at this time, it's an unusual name here back in the 1800's-1870's, her father is given as Charles Leyden, Esq of Kilrush Co Clare, she is listed as the eldest daughter.

My Daniel named his 1st daughter as Margaret so I think there's a very strong possibility that she is Daniel's sister and both named after their mother or grandmother. As Daniel or Francis never give their b/p in any more detail other than Ireland I narrowed it down to Co Clare on the basis of Charles Leyden the farmer in the tithe entries, so I feel all three must come from this part of Co Clare. Daniel, Francis & Margaret are all from the same middle-class, social status, they all marry well and live in smart addresses.

My line unfortunately is from an illegitimate child Daniel had to my widowed 3xt Gt-grandmother Alice Thomas nee Simkin, she too was from a wealthy family but we didn't see any of the money (lol) and Daniel never married her but did provide for the child.

If you think you can tie in with this or have any additional information I'd love to hear from you, they've been really difficult to track down but due to a court case and snippets in the newspaper I've been able to tie them together albeit loosely.

Best regards Val.
