Brett family of Feakle 1901
Posted by: Graham Holter (ID *****1160) Date: February 13, 2005 at 13:06:17

The 1901 census carries details of the Brett family of Feakle, headed by Patt (a farmer, 60) and his wife Bridget, 58. They have children as follows: John, 30; Thomas, 25; Daniel, 20; Mary, 18; and Ellie, 17.
I think this may be the family from which my great-grandmother Bridget Brett originated. She was born I think in 1902 and so was possibly the child of one of the children above, given her grandmother's name.
She later became a schoolteacher and married an Englishman (my great grandfather) and settled in Eastbourne, Sussex, bearing three children before dying aged just 28.
If anyone can shed any light on this story they would be solving a mystery that has lasted since the 1920s. Thanks.
