Timothy Downes / Downs / Down - From County Clare

I'm trying to find information on Timothy Downes. Timothy was born around 1827 in County Clare. His parents were Michael Downes and Bridget Moloney. He came to America around 1850 eventually settling in Western New York. He married Mary Downes (her maiden name was also Downes) in Elmira, NY, then moved to Clarkson, NY around 1856. I'm trying to verify Timothy's parents names and if he had any siblings. I'm also trying to verify if he was truly from County Clare. One record I have says that he was from the low lands of County Clare, but also near Killarney. The only Killarney I know of is in County Kerry. Does anybody know of a place in County Clare that sounds like Killarney?
