we are locating the Kilrush Kane/Keane families via a DNA project and you are very welcomed to participate. Both Kane, Keane, Cain, etc., with or without a Mc are all anglicised forms of the Irish name Mac Catháin. A major sept of them in Kilrush for a very long time indeed.
