My grandfather, John J. Hallinan, is listed on the 1901 County Clare Census which can be found at http://www.clarelibrary.ie (follow the genealogy links. He is listed in the Townland of Gortaniska and Electoral District of Crusheen. He is 9 years old, son of Thomas and Mary (McInerny) Hallinan. He has two sisters listed - Bridget - 14 and Katie -12. He had at least two other sisters - Mary who was probably in the US by 1901 (she would have been about 25 in 1901)and Hannah and we believe he had two brothers - names unknown -- I would guess one would have been Thomas.
John Hallinan is found in the records at Ellis Island (www.ellisislandrecords.org) as arriving in 1912. His destination is listed as Elmira NY and his cousin Patrick Tughey (Touhey ?) is listed as the person he is going to see. My grandmother Mary Clancy is listed right above him (they met on the boat) and is listed as going to her Aunt's house in Elmira -- a Mrs. Crowe.
