I am not related. I pick postings at random and answer them.

I wonder if any of these are your Michael McManus.

In the Griffiths Valuations of Ireland, I found:

Mc Manus, Michael
County: Cavan Parish: Castlerahan
Location: Mullaghmore

Mc Manus, Michael
County: Cavan Parish: Killashandra
Location: Bruse

Mc Manus, Michael
County: Cavan Parish: Killashandra
Location: Corran

Mc Manus, Michael
County: Cavan Parish: Killinagh
Location: Edenmore

Mc Manus, Michael
County: Cavan Parish: Templeport
Location: Cartronnagilta

Mc Manus, Michael
County: Cavan Parish: Templeport
Location: Cloncurkney

Mc Manus, Michael
County: Cavan Parish: Templeport
Location: Kildoagh

Mc Manus, Bernard
County: Cavan Parish: Killashandra
Location: Drumbess

Mc Manus, Bernard
County: Cavan Parish: Lavey
Location: Corragho

If Bernard and Margaret McManus followed the "Old Irish Naming System", the first born son would have been named after Bernard's father and the second born son would be named after Margaret's father.

In the 1900 census, Margaret states that she had 2 children and had 2 alive children in 1900 (John and Bernard).
