Bernard McManus 1861-1885, County Cavin, Ireland

Hello,

I am new to this forum and was wondering if someone might be able to assist me in a small road block.

My Great Grandfather was Bernard Joseph McManus, from what I have he was born in "County Cavan, Ireland" in Jan 1861 and his father was a Michael McManus, mother is unknown. He immigrated to Lowell Mass around 1885 and he married my Great Grandmother Margaret McCaffrey, she was also from County Cavan, Ireland.

My GGrandfather never became a US citizen so a 1900 census shows him as an alien and he past away in 1909. My GGrandmother became a US Citizen in 1944. Her naturalization papers show:

She stated she was born in June 1868 in County Cavan, Ireland. The 1900 Federal Census Sound ex lists her as born April, 1863, Age 37) She was a widow of Bernard McManus, born in County Cavan, Ireland in 1863. He arrived in New York in 1885. Margaret arrived in Boston, Massachusetts in June, 1883 under the name of Margaret Caffrey (?), ship unknown from Liverpool, England.

from her death certificate we have: father John McCaffrey, born Ireland, mother Elizabeth, born Ireland

It is from this naturalization paperwork my aunt got Bernards location and time frame.

If anyone can assist me in finding who Bernard Joseph McManus's parents were? and/or siblings, locations, etc. I would appreciate it.

Thank you
David
