Bartholomew Gaffney m. Ann Freehill c.1830 in Ballyconnell

Hi All,

Hoping someone can help me. My great, great, great grandfather was Bartholomew Gaffney who was a baker and resided in the Ballyconnell area.

Born in 1794, he married Ann Freehill in about 1830 and had many children; Bernard (my g. g. grandfather), Mary, Catherine, Ann, Patrick, Bridget, Margaret, Ellen and another boy and a girl who at this stage are unidentified.

His son Bernard (also a baker), emigrated to Australia in 1853, marrying Bridget Quinlan whom he met while on his journey to Sydney.

In 1862 or 1863, Bartholomew (now close to 70) packed up his whole family and brought them to Australia. Unfortunately he died shortly after arriving in Sydney due to cancer with which he had been suffering for several years.

If anyone can help me with any further information or if you are somehow connected, I would very much appreciate hearing from you. All the best, Kathryn
