James Walter Lynch ca 1820

James Walter Lynch came to Quebec, Canada ca.1838-40 with his mother Margaret Welles. Her maiden name was probably Smith. We feel he was a younger/youngest son and may have had military training in Ireland. He was twice in the US Army, Mexican War and Civil War. Margaret was listed as a Lynch widow in County Cavan in tax lists before 1845. Would like to find who was his Lynch father? George was a son, and a James W.Jr. Was there a military school in Cavan in the early 1800's?
