I search the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 11,500,000 surviving rcds for abt 60% of Irish counties. Rcds B4 1840 are sparse, although Limerick is better than most.

Counties Carlow isn't in the database yet. However, birth registration was civil after 1863. These rcds are kept by the General Register Office. Contact this office at http://www.groireland.ie for birth register copies.

Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg.

Good luck.
