I have recently received some new information and have identified the marriages and families of three sisters, daughters of George Cummins and his wife Margaret of Castlemore, in the civil parish of Fennagh, co. Carlow. (Castlemore is located about 1 mile west of the town of Tullow.) If anyone has any information on these families, please contact me at sneirish@comcast.net.
Stephen Aughney married about 1808 Bridget Cummins, b 1785 in Castlemore. They lived in Roscat, civil parish of Ardristan, co. Carlow. The baptism of one son is recorded in the RC parish of Tullow - Michael in 1809. He may be the Michael who married Catherine MacDonald abt 1855, and had children Joanna, Mary, Thomas, James and William in Roscat. Bridget and Stephen probably had other children, but they have not been positively identified as yet. Stephen was the son of Michael Aughney and Elizabeth Redmond, b. Roscat 1773. He had at least a sister Elizabeth and a brother Patrick, and possibly a brother James.
Denis Delany married in RC parish of Ballon in 1816 Ellen/Eleanor Cummins, b 1789 in Castlemore. After their marriage they lived in Tobinstown in the civil parish of Rathvilly, and had 4 known children baptized in the RC parish of Rathvilly: Patrick 1821; Jeremiah 1825; Mathew 1827; Bridget 1832.
Timothy Murphy married in the RC parish of Ballon in 1833, Margaret Cummins, born in Castlemore in 1791. They had one known child, Owen b. in Baltinglass 1834, baptized in RC parish of Baltinglass. Witnesses at Timothy & Margaret's marriage were James Murphy & Eliza Aughney. Baptismal sponsors for Owen were Patt Headon and Eleanor (Cummins) Delany.
