Hi Mike,

I think the practice of naming a child after one who had died a few years earlier occurred in Ireland. Two entries with the same name may also have been a forgetful priest making a second entry in the records. Such things happened in busy parishes. In some instances a child's name appears in records at a much later stage than expected. A child may not have been entered in the records until a younger child's details were being entered at which point the priest remembered about the earlier child.
