Ralph... is it possible for you to check for McAllister family information? Rose McKinley married in the US a John McAllister who was born ca. 1844 in Ireland. Again no further information on his birth. He came to America and lived a short time in Pennsylvania. In 1879 he is found in records in Titusville, PA. When he came here; I have no idea. I did find a passenger list that showed a Rose McKinley and a Susan McAllister who immigrated. I await the information from the shiplist but expect there won't be a lot of information such as the village they came from. But my logic is that IF there is a village where both a McKinley and McAllister family came from then maybe it will narrow down my search? Is that a reasonable assumption? Probably not...
but maybe worth a try.
