I am trying to find details of Helen Alice Miller and her family. Helen married Charles Colville Horrocks, a lieutenant in the 83rd Regimentin the garrison church of St Marks on 19 February 1869 in a protestant ceremony. She was then about 23-24 years old. Her parents were William Moore Miller, resident magistrate in Armagh and Eileen nee Galway. Helen also had a younger brother, Reginald Charles, and an older sister Mary. The couple then emmigrated to Australia and in 1875 Reginald joined them in Brisbane where he became a government audit inspector. Charles had to resign his commission to marry Helen and was disinherited of a sizable fortune. I have not been able to find any details of Helen's birth or indeed anything more about any of her family. I don't know what the source of the opposition to the union but am guessing it came from both families and revolved around religion. HoweverI don't know even what the religious denomination of the Millers was or if they were an Irish family. The older sister Mary married very late, in England in 1897, to the Rev john Matthews, Rector of Hedgerley, Bucks. Helen also mentioned in a letter I have sighted, an Admiral Miller, apparently a relative, possible another brother. I am researching a biography of Charles and would appreciate as little or as much information as possible.
