I am trying to locate the origin in Ireland of my progenitor in my McLaughlin line. Family tradition states that they came from a place called Dobbins Glen. I recently received info that there was a place in County Armagh by the name of Dobbins Valley Townland (Parkmore), Armagh Parish, County Armagh. Now this is the closest I have ever been able to find to what family tradition states. Since a valley is also called a glen and considering the time frame I am looking in is late 1700s to early 1800s I see a possibility in this location. Tradition also states that we were Orange Irish and Scot/Irish which makes me think the family could have been one of the Scottish families that were sent there from Scotland in the past by the English.
I would like any info on the above area and hoping someone in Ireland has historical data that could support this or at least provide additional details. Also am wondering if there were list made of those people that the English sent to Ireland???
Thank You ..... Garry L. McLaughlin
