Without a parish or townland, you'll find it hard to trace this man. His birth is well before the start of statutory recording of births in Ireland (1864). The only record would be from church records, if they exist. (Very few church records go back that far). The records that do exist are not collated or indexed and there is no way of searching them on line. You need to know the persons religion and townland. Then you have to look that churches records up and work your way through them.
The name was reasonably common with 92 in Co. Antrim in the 1901 census. In the 1700s there were very few large towns in Ireland and statistically he is likely to have come from a rural farming background.
