HELEN IRELAN STARNER
Tragic death came to Helen Irelan Starner shortly after 10 o'clock Saturday night, when the car in which she was riding with four companions went out of control, left the mountain highway near Bailey and plunged into a canyon.
Severe concusion and back injury caused instant death. Other occupants of the car received only minor injuries.
Helen was born on December 26, 1915, in Appanoose County, Iowa, and when she was three years old the family moved to Yuma. She graduated from the Yuma High School in 1933, and was employed in the offices of Attorneys Glenn S. Thompson and Webb D. Martin before going to Washington D. C., in 1941. She later moved to Denver here she was married to James Starner, now with the occupation forces in Germany.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at the Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Freeman in charge. Interment will be made in the Yuma Cemetery.
Besides her husband she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Irelan; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Barth of California; one brother, Max Thorpe of Yuma and grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Thorpe.
