salaam, The arguement is right but as far as our family is concerned the word or famliy title "MAlik"comes from Dawal Mulk..the sayyeds were given this title..the nobles and royals are also given the title Malik. But in our case it is the former.. Like how the other branches of the family are called Naqsbandi, qadri etc..we start keeping our family name is Malik. We are told by are elders that we are sayyed's and the descendents of Hadrat Dawal Malik RA.. My grandfather and his brother got orphaned in a place called karadgey,Karantaka,India. Hence they could nt have the Shijra or the family tree.. To correct and to check whether I'm a sayyed I chekced with other Sayyed Scholars and they said there is a possibilty.. then they asked certain traits and behaviour of our family members..then they agreed and said you might belong..but a Shijra and family tree will confirm that of my ancestory..
