Dear Mr. Gazzah:

My family tree connects me to Hazrat Imaam Hussein through his grand son Zaid-e Shahiid.

One of Zaid-e Shahiid's descendents, after 14 generations, became quite well known as Syed Abul Farah Vaasti because he had moved to Vaasit (South of Baghdad) and achieved a degree of prominance in that city. Later, Syed Abul Farah's three sons and one grandson settled in India. Their descendents, the Zaidi Syeds of Bar-raha and Bilgraam, achieved a high profile in pre-British India as miltary generals and senior govenment offcials.

I am presently trying to collect as much information as I can on my forefathers. Given your interest in the descendents of Hazarat Imaam Hussein, I wonder if you might know of publications that contain information on individual Zaidies, or the collective history of Zaidies, in Iraq and the surrounding areas.

I would appreciate any comments/suggestions you might have.

Best regards,

S. Abbas Zaidi
